Silence? Music? Podcast?

Some of my running buddies think I’m a wimp because I can’t run without some kind of audio distraction. They are probably right. I’ve cancelled my morning run on occasion just because my bluetooth earbuds didn’t want to connect to my device. I need something- usually tunes or a podcast. I tried the audio book thing a few times, but it turns our I like reading a book better than listening to one. So for me, I try to throw a few Spotify playlists together and play them on my runs.

Over the years I’ve tried clipping music players to my shirt, stuffed them into my pocket, carried my phone, put my phone into an arm sleeve, used wired ear buds, wireless earbuds connected to each other, and truly wireless individual earbuds. I’ve finally settled on a smart watch and wireless earbuds. Seems pretty easy and the tech works every time. Rather then stream the music during the run, I just download it to my watch and play it. As good as my signal is, streaming always seems to get choppy at some point, and it drives me crazy.

Do you listen to something, or just stew in your own thoughts?
