Can running HEAL and injury?

Does running ever HEAL your body? I’m not suggesting you avoid necessary medical treatment, but I’ve had two instances lately feeling a bit “gimpy” and a slow steady run fixed me! Must have been only some muscle tightness worked out by the run, but makes it hard to determine what’s an injury that needs treatment, and what’s merely a kink you should run through?
