Since I’ve started running in the early morning, I’ve been experimenting with how much, if anything, to eat before my regular normal run. For me, I’ve had the most success eating absolutely nothing. Roll out of bed, throw on some running stuff, bump into some walls and doors on my way downstairs, drink some water, and hit the road. I realize a large part of exercise is proper nutrition, but my body seems to function better on these early morning runs with an empty “clean” feeling. I don’t eat anything until I’m back, showered, and settling into my day.
